Dr. Dorothy M. Hill
is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University (B.S. in Education
and B.A. in English), and the University of Pittsburgh (M.A. in
English). During her career with the Pittsburgh Public Schools, she
taught honors courses in English at Peabody High School's Center for
Advanced Studies. In addition, she taught an elective course in
Religious Literature of the West, first field tested at Peabody and
several other schools in Pennsylvania by Pennsylvania State
University. She continued to teach writing part-time at the
university level.
Dr. Hill is the author of three curriculum guides for high school
teachers published by the Center for Learning: Song of Solomon (Toni
Morrison), 1988; A Doll's House (Hedda Gabler (Henrik Ibsen), 1989
Frankenstein (Mary Shelly), 1991 and Their Eyes Were Watching God (Zora
Neale Hurston), 1996. She was involved in lay activities at St.
Bernard Parish in Mt. Lebanon, PA having served for two years in the
St. Bernard School Board and then served two years as President of
the St. Bernard Parish Council. She is now a member of St. Simon and
Jude Parish in Scott Township, PA.
