M. Thomas Norwood - Beginnings: The Call of God in Genesis
M. Thomas Norwood, Jr. is a native of Durham, North Carolina. He holds degrees from Davidson College, Columbia Theological Seminary, and Yale University. An ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), he served two churches in Mississippi prior to becoming the Director of Corporate Programs in the development office at Davidson College in 1988. In 1997 he founded the Davidson Consulting Group, a full-service fund raising consulting firm that assists churches and other non-profits in conducting capital funds campaigns.
In his "other" life, Tom is a former KC10 Instructor Pilot/Aircraft Commander in the Air Force Reserve, previously assigned to the 78th Air Refueling Squadron at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey. He has participated in many major military and humanitarian operations, including Desert Storm and the Somalia food relief effort.
Tom is the author of the Kerygma study Beginnings: The Call of God in Genesis. He serves on the Editorial Board and conducts Kerygma Workshops throughout the country. He also is author of Pentecost I in the Proclamation series published by Augsburg/Fortress Press and has written numerous reviews and articles in theological journals.
Tom and his wife Louise have two grown children and live in Davidson, North Carolina. He is an avid runner and enjoys reading, listening to classical music and going to movies.
