Boyd Lien

Rev Boyd Lien

Boyd Lien, an ordained minister of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), along with his wife, Pamela Ertsgaard Lien, lives in Augusta, Georgia and is thriving in retirement. He was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota, just down the highway from legendary Lake Wobegon. After studying graphic art and art history at the University of Minnesota, he said "yes!" to God's call to ministry and entered McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, Illinois, which included a life-changing year of study at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Since his ordination in 1970, Boyd has served as pastor and educator with churches in Verona, New Jersey; New Castle, Pennsylvania; Eugene, Oregon; Houston, Texas; Richmond, Virginia; and Augusta, Georgia.

As church educator, he has created and published a variety of educational resources for all ages. Some resources have been published independently; others have been published by the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation, Abingdon Press, The Logos Program, and The Kerygma Program. In collaborating on the creation of Discovering the Bible, Boyd served as co-author and editor of that first edition and is now the author of both the Resource Book and the Leader's Guide, and designer of Graphics for the new edition, Discovering the Bible: A New Generation. He has authored the Leader's Guide for Second Corinthians: Living Letters in Christ and created the slide presentation for that study as well.

Boyd is the author of the Resource Book and Leader’s Guide, and designer of Graphics for Isaiah Part One: Holy, Holy, Holy; Isaiah Part Two: Do Not Be Afraid; and Isaiah Part Three: Your Light Has Come.

Boyd and Pam’s daughter, Sarah Finnerty, and grandson, Alexander Finnerty, live in Raleigh, North Carolina. Their son, Justin Lien, lives in Augusta.
